Industry analyst Gartner predicted in 2010 the following trends for Project Management Office activities in Europe:
- By 2012, the use of Project Management Tools in core business packaged applications or from the Cloud will grow by more than 100%, eroding the using of complex desktop products and spreadsheets.
- By 2014, the average IT project duration will shrink by 25%, while the average volume of formalised work completed in a 12 months period will increase by 25%.
- During the next 18 months Project Management Offices that are not directly accountable for projects, programmes or portfolios will be radically restructured or disbanded.
