Execution / Vision

The approach the PMO Company takes consists of three fundamental steps. Firstly, the set targets and objectives need to be fully understood. They then need to be prioritised based on relevance and any identified restrictions and finally the implementation needs to be managed in a way that will guarantee completion of the set objectives.

These three steps should be seen as sequential and continual – as a wheel or lifecycle of changes, with the input for these changes generated by the chosen strategy of the company or department.

The step “understanding” or in other words “benefit management” is utilised to define the business deliverables of the various products.

The step “prioritization” or in other words “portfolio management” provides a weighting factor in areas such as markets, return on investment and organisational impact, which allows activities to be initiated, stopped or paused at precisely the right moment.

The step “realisations” or “project delivery” serves to generate the intended products or services with the intention of reaping the end benefits.

Chop and change process

The benefits are measured continually throughout the operational part of the process, to allow cross referencing of the realised benefits with the planned benefits. In all likelihood, a number of products will have become obsolete and in need of update or change. As the business strategy –and consequently the benefits plan– are adjusted, the priorities and the activities surrounding the projects will need adjusting likewise. The measure or degree to which the change wheel is managed efficiently is directly proportional to the efficiency and effectiveness of an organisation in a changing business environment. The PMO Company specialises in managing this process.
